Found in the Hampshire archive a Counterpart lease for 21 years of No. 7 Clarges Street, Picadilly to Thomas Banting of St Johns Wood. He leased the property from Richard Henry Charles Rycroft living in Hampshire.
Dated 29th Dec 1841.

This lovely document has the signature of Thomas Banting who has been mentioned in earlier posts and who was part of the Banting Upholstery business in London. He leased a number of properties, the leases of which are found scattered around various archives.
This lease was for a property in Piccadilly for a term of 21 years and he paid £180 per annum which at today’s rates is about £8,000 per annum.
