John Banting Painter and the Bruno Hat Hoax
John Banting, the British Surrealist painter was involved in an art hoax that sought to make fun of the art critics and establishment at the time. The date was 1929 and the hoax was carried out by a group of ‘bright young things’, including John Banting, Evelyn Waugh, Brian Howard and Bryan Guinness.
