John Banting d.1883 Soberton

John Banting died on 4th May 1883 in Mislingford Soberton Hampshire. He was 86 yrs old and a farm labourer. His son in law, George Henry Holford registered the death.
This John was born in Upper Clatford in North Hampshire where there is another cluster of Banting families
Not certain what brought him down to this part of Hampshire but he married Elizabeth Primmer in East Meon on 8th October 1821

    This John and Elizabeth were my wife’s 3xgreat grandparents twice over. Their granddaughter Elizabeth Adelaide Holford married her cousin, Charles William Banting grandson of John and Elizabeth.
    My mother-in-law Isabel neeBanting was told by her father that they were not related to the Hambledon Bantings. Seems hard to believe but we have not yet disproved that.

      Hi Robert
      Helen Banham here, we have spoken several times over the years and finally thanks to a brilliant friend this is the initial attempt by me to push out a geomapped Banting site.
      It’s all early stages yet but I want to curate all info on Bantings and see where we can illuminate connections between these disparate clusters of Bantings.
      Eventually I will be able to invite all to post their data but we have lots to do.
      We are going to be at WDYTYA show in Feb with http://www.intriguingfamilyhistory.
